The 2017 Formula One season (Marcus Ericsson's career) was the 68th Formula One championship contested over 20 circuits in 19 countries.The season was overshadowed by Dieter Aeschelmn's Death in in the Spainsh Grand Prix, it was the first death since Ayrton Senna in 1994

Team changes[]
- Toro Rosso is renamed back to Minardi after Red Bull GmbH gives up their shares in the team.
- Chevrolet is the first American team to own a F1 team and use there own engine. Chevrolet bought the company after EADS went bankrupt and bought the team.
- Caterham sold it F1 team to Audi for 70 million dollars. It gives Audi's Le Mans winning team, Team Joist a chance to be the king of F1 racing.
- McLaren secures as title sponsor deal with Aerospace defense contractor BAE Systems. The deal was to last 6-years.

==== Mid-season ==* Sauber: Dieter Aeschelman → Fernando Alonso → Paul di Resta.After crashing into a concerte wall at 280km at turn 7
the death of Dieter Aeschelman at the Spanish Grand Prix on the Circuit de Catalunya prompted his replacement by Fernando Alonso. Paul di Resta would've replaced him, but was still injured from a nasty accidental last year. He would, instead, replace the Ferrari test driver when he recovers, which ended up being for the German Grand Prix.
- Lotus: Jarod Wells replaces Romain Grosjean for one round. Grosjean's injury during the Canadian Grand Prix prevented him from attending the following event, promoting Canadian test driver and brother of Ferdinand, Jarod Wells, to full driver for the weekend.
- McLaren: Tu Yu → Jenson Button. Former McLaren driver Jenson Buttons stepped in to replace a seriously-injured Tu Yu following a first-lap incident at the German Grand Prix. The Taiwanese, Yu, could not participate in the rest of the season.
